A cat was rescued by fire crews after becoming wedged between a shed and a six-foot wall.
The owner of the property where the incident happened contacted Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service after hearing a cat crying since the previous night, on the following morning.
Fire crews located the cat, wedged between their large garden and a six foot high wall, with the owners of the property unable to rescue the distressed cat.
After the owners assisted the crews in emptying the shed, they used some ropes and other equipment to move the shed enough to be able to rescue the feline.
The cat was then taken to a nearby vets by one of the crew who was off duty and his wife, who is a veterinary nurse.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews were alerted on November 5 to a cat rescue in Pound Meadow, Hatherleigh. On arrival we were met by the property owner who informed us they had a heard a cat crying since last night and this morning when they realised it was trapped.
"They located the cat wedged between their large garden shed and a 6ft high wall, unable to rescue the cat they called 999 as it was clearly in distress.
"Crew's assisted emptying the shed and with the use of some ropes, and other equipment we were able to move the shed just enough to rescue the cat.
"The cat was taken to North Park Vets by one of the crew who was off duty and his wife (who happens to be a veterinary nurse).
"The cat was microchipped and the owner has been contacted."
