A FARM fete day in aid of Devon Air Ambulance was enjoyed by Halwill villagers.

The fete, which saw an array of activities including a hobby horse gymkhana, ‘welly wanging’ and wet sponge throwing, as well as a barbecue, was held on Sunday, September 11, at Leasefield Farm, Halwill Junction.

Donald Osborne, who helped to organise the event, said: “It was very successful. There was a very good turnout. I think people who came enjoyed it and there was a big mix of ages. Good fun was had by all.”

There was also a raffle and auction, and Mr Osborne said there had been some ‘very generous donations’.

He expressed his thanks to the shops in Holsworthy, which donated to the raffle, and to Shebbear Riding Club, which organised the hobby horse gymkhana.

At least £1,200 was raised for Devon Air Ambulance. Mr Osborne added: “It’s a charity that’s important to a lot of people.”
