OVER 50 guests were invited to celebrate the opening of the Old Bank in Camelford on the evening of Saturday, September 24, and the night was filled with fun, drinks, chatter and discussions of the project.

Two of Camelford’s young people, Harvey and Beth, cut the ribbon, marking the official start of the celebration, and the evening really got into the swing of things with entertainment provided by the jazz duo, Jump Out Jazz.

Town councillor Claire Hewlett, a member of the Old Bank team, said: “We’ve come a huge distance in a short space of time.

We’re still a bit rough round the edges; the kitchen needs some ‘tlc’, as do the loos, and there’s two floors above us which we haven’t even thought about yet.”

There was a red carpet, a bunting, and guests wore their posh frocks and shirts and ties for the special event.

Guests were also invited to write a message of luck on the ‘I Helped Celebrate Opening Night’ wall.

Ruth Henderson, part of the Old Bank team, said: “To move forward, we now need people to support us; we need people to come forward with suggestions for what they would like to organise in the Old Bank. We also need your money!”

Guests were then invited to complete a Gift Aid form. As a result, £150 was raised on the night.
