What a colourful sight as children and staff at Lifton Primary School celebrated European Day of Languages by dressing up on Monday. They went to school in a brilliant array of guises representing France, Spain, Greece, Ireland and many other European countries. After a multi-lingual assembly, they tucked into a continental breakfast, followed by a range of activities including flag-making, French quizzes and games in several languages. The theme continued with a special lunch menu of lasagne followed by French crepes and ice cream. In the afternoon, they also had a chance to taste a wide variety of dishes from Italy, Germany, Greece and Poland among others. At the end of the day the children all came together to share their experiences and bid each other 'auf weidersehn, arrivederci, adios and au revoir' (goodbye).
