I GOT up and accidentally had breakfast, just like the Bank of Toryland 'accidentally' sent an e-mail to The Guardian newspaper about how they would react if we left the EU.
No doubt it was all doom and gloom – which would affect the rich.
The Tories say they will have a vote (or something) on EU membership in 2017.
Labour say they will back a vote on the EU but would not back an exit vote – is that why they lost the election?
It has been said that if we did leave the EU tomorrow it would take another two years to finalise our exit.
This could mean taking in several million more migrants and in the meantime the EU could also 'fine' us over our membership.
Will we get out by the next election? Don't hold your breath.
A leading economist has said that if we did get out we could save tens of millions in membership payments every day, open up other trade barriers around the world and take control of our own borders.
What is so bad about that?
All we get from successive governments is "we will try and negotiate a better deal."
What poppycock – for want of a better word.
Let's see what happens by 2020. Millions more people in the country, not enough full-time decent jobs, not enough attractive housing.
We will carry on with the same old same old political game but by then the country may be as poor – or us minions will be – as, say, Greece.
