A CAMPAIGN launched to help a local disabled rider fulfil her ambition of riding in international paradressage competitions has got off to a great start.

Emily Skerrett, from Stratton, and her horse, 'Woody', are tipped for success by international dressage coach Clive Milkins, international dressage trainer Pammy Hutton and her trainer at Lakefield Equestrian Centre, Camelford, Mark Cunliffe.

Emily suffers from a genetic condition called Erhlers-Danlos Syndrome, which affects all her body in a painful and debilitating way.

She has to walk with crutches or uses a wheelchair, but riding gives her the freedom and exercise she could otherwise not enjoy.

She hopes to be a role model for other disabled people to show that being disabled does not mean unable.
