Two schools near Launceston have been granted large sums of money from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme.

Trekenner CP School was chosen as one of the local Tesco Launceston Community Projects, which customers were able to vote for using tokens in the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.

Tesco have very generously donated £2,000 to the school. A spokesperson from the school said: “As we are a small school, this is a huge amount and we are extremely grateful, not only to Tesco Launceston, but also to everyone in the area who supported the school.

“We will use the grant awarded to us to improve our outdoor learning space and create an all-weather learning area.”

Lifton Primary School have also welcomed a cheque, which was for £4,000 thanks to Tesco Launceston’s Bags of Help scheme.

The money has helped pay for materials and work to the school’s forest school area, providing a new bridge to connect the two outdoor areas.

A spokesperson from the Friends of Lifton School said: “On behalf of Lifton School, we would like to thank Tesco Launceston for their kind donation, to help us to build a new access bridge from the new part of our forest school, into our pond area. This enables the smallest members of our school (two-year-olds), to observe the pond easier. It also means there is a better access for any children, who come into the school in the future who may have disabilities.

“We would also like to thank Pete Bluett Ltd for the time and effort he and members of his family have put into building the bridge, as well as all those parents who have been involved. We will be holding the grand opening on Friday, March 22 from 3.15pm to 5pm alongside our spring fayre. Anyone who would like to come along and see what we have done are more than welcome.”
