ST Giles on the Heath Primary School pupils were thrilled to welcome Olympic athlete Robert Mitchell to their school on October 15.

Robert is an Olympic high jumper who currently has his sights set on the summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2020. He was a Commonwealth games finalist in Manchester in 2002 and a finalist in Melbourne in 2006. He is a Welsh National Record holder and has been a Welsh champion for 11 straight years.

In the afternoon Robert ran an exciting sponsored circuit event with the pupils, which raised £743.60 to go towards a new school fitness trail. He then enthralled them with an inspirational talk about his career, how he stays healthy and his ethos on life.
