former head of school at Windmill Hill Academy, Mr Andrew Terry, started his retirement at the end of the last academic year. He began his teaching career, at Windmill, on September 1, 1995.
He is well known to many parents, children and community members across Launceston. Especially known for his sporting interests and according to all that worked alongside him, he will be greatly missed.
Mr Terry’s dedication to Windmill Hill Academy, formally Launceston CP School, is greatly noted as he has spent his teaching career dedicated to the one school in Launceston.
He has not always just devoted care and attention to the education of the pupils at the school, but has provided his own time and commitments to providing a breath of sporting experiences for the pupils in his care.
He is also well known for leading the Year 6 week’s London residential each year and attending other residential trips for pupils at Windmill.
To wish him well, the school hosted a number of ‘thank you’ events in celebration with a tea party for the present pupils and staff, as well as later in the day inviting previous pupils and staff.
The school also hosted a very special assembly at the end of the year, presenting Mr Terry with some special gifts. The school wishes to thank him for his dedication to Windmill and wish him a well-deserved retirement.
