PLANS to regenerate the outdoor space at Altarnun Primary School near Launceston, part of the Adventure Learning Academy Trust (ALAT), came to fruition on Saturday, June 16 when the community once again joined forces at the school’s annual big dig.
Principal, Kristina Harrison, is thrilled. She said: “What a wonderful big dig day! We are overjoyed at what has been accomplished in only one day. Thank you to all the staff, families, friends, FOASA (Friends of Altarnun School Association) and community for your donations, time and commitment to our school. We now have a poly-tunnel, a kitchen garden, colourful benches and planters, a sensory garden, the start of an orchard and wild meadow, a Class 1 growing area and, most importantly, some exciting learning opportunities for the children!
“Special thanks go to Tesco in Launceston, Asda in Bodmin, The Bodmin Plant and Herb Nursery, Illand Nursery and Cornish Lime, who generously donated items. Many thanks, one and all!”
