RUNNING for their community, Vin Marshall and Vicky Holt will take on the London Marathon with an aim of raising £1,000 for charity.

On April 24 the two ladies will run to raise funds for the Lifton Community Centre, a registered charity.

Vin, a trustee of the Community Centre, will be taking on the London Marathon for the third time, while Vicky, who works in Specsavers in Launceston, will attempt it for the first time.

Vin said: “We are looking forward to the 26.2 mile challenge and hope to raise as much as we can for the Community Centre.

“After many years of fundraising we are now at a stage for the building work to start.”

The trustees have now raised enough funds in order to start the building process, the money raised by Vin and Vicky will go towards furnishing the building and purchasing new equipment.

The tendering process is now also underway to find a suitable contractor to carry out the building project.

This year’s London Marathon will see its one-millionth finisher, who knows, it could be either Vicky or Vin who will be the #oneinamillion.

To support the two ladies the public can sponsor them, this can be done at Lifton Village Stores, S T Lanes Tinhay or Specsavers, Launceston.

They have also set up a sponsorship website, to donate visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/laviniamarshall1 or www.virginmoneygiving.com/vixholt
