STUDENTS from Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, have raised £303.34 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) by taking part in the charity’s £20 Challenge.

A group of students were given £20 as a start-up investment and were tasked to see how much money they could raise from that £20. Having to get their business minds on the task, students came up with various fundraising ideas including holding a bake sale, selling milkshakes and also a mega raffle.

The students were encouraged to work together, utilising each other’s skills and creativity and their great team efforts enabled them to reach their total of over £300.

Zoe Partridge, community fundraiser for CHSW, was delighted to collect the donation on behalf of the charity, saying: “The students at Duchy College did absolutely brilliantly as part of the £20 Challenge, they were creative and raised a fantastic amount which will help us to continue supporting local children and families at our hospices.”

The £20 Challenge is available for schools, colleges and university students to take part in to help raise vital funds for CHSW which needs £3-million a year to run its children’s hospice in St Austell; Little Harbour. The challenge is ideal for inspiring students to use their entrepreneurial skills and creativity alongside building up skills in team work, managing money, business and fundraising.
