woman from Tenby has been banned from getting behind the wheel of her vehicle for 18 months after admitting a drink-drive charge.

Twenty-six-year-old Jamie Louise Bain, of The Clicketts, pleaded guilty to driving her Volkswagen Beetle, in the centre of Tenby, whilst over the alcohol limit, when she appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Lesley Harbon told the court that at around 6 pm, on April 16, police officers were heading towards the town's Tudor Square, when they noticed the defendant's VW pull out in front of them with its rear offside brake light not working.

"Ms Bain pulled over and when she got out of the vehicle she was crying and officers could smell intoxicants. A breath test was requested and she was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving," Ms Harbon told magistrates.

A further test at Haverfordwest Police Station showed that the defendant had an alcohol level of 61 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the prescribed limit.

Ms Bain's solicitor, Gareth Phillips, told the court that there were no aggravating features and that since the incident his client had self-referred herself to a drugs and alcohol councillor to deal with her problems..

Magistrates disqualified the defendant from driving for 18 months and fined her £110 for the offence. She was also ordered to pay a court charge of £150, costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
