A MUSIC student from Halwill is excited to announce the release of her latest single which features music from the world famous composer, Hans Zimmer’s, cellist.
Abby Knight is a 20-year-old musician who is currently in her final year of studying music at Falmouth University. A recent Miss England finalist, Abby is excited to share the news of her latest project that combines her passion for music and her pageant journey.
Inspired by an emotional past year, Abby decided to create a collaborative album for her final project which would be composed for piano and cello.
Abby explained: “I reached out to a few people on Instagram who played cello in the hopes I could get a local cellist to play on the album, but the next day, I received a reply from Mariko Muranaka, Hans Zimmers cello player!
“To be honest, I didn’t know the extent of her fame until after she said yes! So I then started writing the piece asap!”
Cellist Mariko Muranaka has played for some iconic film scores including Dune 2. She has also toured with Madonna and is currently on the ‘World of Hans zimmer’ tour.
This collaboration has been a dream come true for me,” Abby added. “As I've long admired the work of Hans Zimmer and his talented ensemble. Working alongside such a respected musician has been an incredible learning experience, and I am immensely proud of the music we have created together.
“I wanted to utilise her skill to create an emotional and moving piece of music.”
In addition to this, Abby is also collaborating with Jake Chapman, also known as 'Chappymilkshake' on Instagram – Jake has recently been a viral superstar online for his beat making.
Abby continued: “Jake's unique style and creative energy have brought an added dimension to the project, enriching the composition with his innovative approach to music production.”
This collaboration single will be released later in the year.
In additional to her music talents, Abby has been inspiring others with her pageant skills during the Miss England competitions. Representing Cornwall she been raising money for the Papyrus charity who help young people with suicide prevention schemes. The Miss England finals are set to take place in May this year.
Abby commented: “I am aiming to inspire other girls to join the music industry, and to reach out to people and make things happen for yourself!”
Abby’s music will be released onto all major streaming platforms including Spotify and Soundcloud.
The collaborative cello piece is set to be release on May 20 and will be available to pre save soon.
