THE Delabole Fire Brigade station officer Mark Saltern retired from the Cornwall and Fire Rescue Service on Tuesday, October 30.
Mark joined the Delabole station in 1986 when it was Cornwall County Fire Brigade.
He progressed through the ranks and became station officer in 1994.
Mark has played a huge part in the community, giving 32 years of service.
This is also a great credit to his employer Nigel Hicks who has allowed him to attend shouts during working hours.
Mark has played a key role in station improvements and his swansong was to fit a new kitchen and install a new staircase so that the upper floor could be used for extra drill space.
The crews made a personal presentation to him and Cornwall deputy chief fire officer Mark Hewitt presented him with a certificate of service.
Group manager Sacha Wheatman also attended and praised Mark for his commitment reminiscing about many memories over the years.
