A?FENCE over two metres high, recently erected around part of Delabole Primary School's playing field, has left some residents angered after they claim they were not informed of the development and that planning permission had not been obtained.
Martin and Nichola Dean of Slate Close, Delabole, are one of the families affected by the fence as it is visible at the back of their garden.
Martin represented a group of residents aggrieved by the erection of the fence at a East Sub-Area Planning Committee council meeting in Liskeard last Thursday.
Speaking to the 'Post' prior to the meeting, he said: "Our garden looks like a prison. Nobody contacted us to inform us the fence would be going up; not even a courtesy letter.
"We could only ask the builders what was happening when they were putting the fence up, and whether they had planning permission for a fence that high. As it was they couldn't say."
The fence was erected towards the end of the summer holidays last year, at a time when nobody was available to talk to.
When somebody at the school was available for contact, they are believed to have re-directed Martin and other callers to Cornwall Council, who, it transpired, had not obtained the necessary planning permission.
The Cornwall Council East Sub-Area Planning Committee, at its meeting last Thursday, deferred the decision for a proposal of retrospective consent for the construction of boundary fence to south west edge of school, to a future meeting.
