Delabole Carnival ‘Take 2’ was greeted with glorious sunshine at the weekend when the static event was held.
The carnival was rearranged at short notice after its marquee collapsed but the village came out, as it always does, to support this annual tradition.
A spokesperson said: “First, we would like to thank you for all the support you have shown us since that dreaded Friday when the Marquee collapsed. This support has been so gratefully received and this will allow us to get planning for 2024. Sunshine at last!
“Amazing turn out for our field parade. We had some wonderful entries who all looked amazing, and we were fully entertained as you paraded around the football pitch. Not the usual parade but it was enjoyed so much by everyone who came. We were so lucky that the weather decided to smile on us today and give us some sunshine.
“We would like to thank all the visiting Royalty, some of whom had travelled quite far, you all looked fabulous. Also, a huge thank you to the judges who all have the difficult job of scoring your entries and we wish we could give you all prizes for your efforts but unfortunately there must be winners but in our eyes you are all winners because you took part, if you didn’t there would not be a parade.
“We hope that you are already thinking about and planning spectacular entries for next year. Look out for our fundraisers on our carnival page because as usual if your support was not there, we couldn’t do it.
“One last thanks to our chairman Andrew Stacey who has now stepped down after many years of his time dedicated to keeping the carnival going. We will definitely miss you!”
