A straightforward Medal Qualifier was played by Launceston Seniors on Tuesday May 5. A far more simple format than the previous week's, was this due to the fact that Captain Robin was not playing in the match that followed and therefore would be checking the cards. 62 members took part and with weather and course perfect for golf the results were good. Dave Renardson got a 3 on the par three 9th, nothing exceptional about that until one finds his first ball went out of bounds and he achieved a hole on one with his second.
Results: 1st, Dave Renardson 68; 2nd, Peter Rickard 68; 3rd, Dave Harding 69; 4th, Ray Williams 69; 5th, Jim Manson 69; 6th, Pat Hayne 70; 7th, Peter Williams 70; 8th, Paddy Collier 71; 9th, Lawrence Bailey 72.
The Trevose match that followed was captained by Gerald Cramp who had led the team in the away match last month where he had achieved a commendable 4 each draw, at home the result was a 6 to 2 win, well done Gerald. He also won the NTP and on this occasion was not usurped by Terry Swords playing later.
Captain Robin stayed after the competition and on the off chance brought his jacket and tie, imagine his delight when one of the Trevose players said he could not stay for the meal. On this occasion he did not have to tell a joke instead he could relax listening to Gerald's tale of the seven dwarfs, not quite the nursery rhyme version.
Results: Gerald Cramp (V/Cpt) & Rodney Duke won 2&1; Brian Ben-David & Tim Johnson won 5&4; Mike Gee & Graham Nevitte won 4&3; Robert Loughran & Dave Bundy lost 3&2; Colin Butler & Terry Swords lost 1down; Derek Ratcliffe & Pat Johnston won 4&3; Don Slee & Adrian Williams won 2up; Rex Haythornthwaite & Richard Dudley won 1up.
