FOUR riders recently took on the London to Surrey 100 cycle ride to raise funds for Lifton Community Centre.

On Sunday, July 29, Mark Knight, Matt Luxton, Mark Boundy and Kevin Marshall took part in the Prudential Ride London to Surrey 100 cycle ride, where 27,000 cyclists started from the Olympic Park in four-minute waves with the earliest setting off at 6.45am, which included Messrs Knight and Luxton.

The scenic route passed through Kingston Upon Thames, Walton On Thames, West Horsley, out to Leith Hill, Dorking, the famous Box Hill and Wimbledon finishing on The Mall.

Unfortunately, the cyclists encountered wind and rain for most of the ride, but the weather didn’t dishearten them in any way. Mr Knight said it was ‘awesome’ and Mr Marshall said: “I really enjoyed that, although I got very wet.”

Mr Knight finished in 4hr 24mins; Mr Luxton in 4hr 40mins; Mr Boundy in 6hr 08mins and Mr Marshall in 6hr 26mins.

Together they have raised more than £3,030. If anyone wishes to support any of the riders they can still do so, either directly or via www.virginmoneygiving.com/followed by the individual’s name e.g. www.virginmoneygiving.com/MattLuxton
