AN annual charity fundraising cupcake day at the Little Bakehouse in Launceston last week raised over £100 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Alzheimer’s Society is their charity of the year for 2018, and is a charity close to the hearts of owners, Phil and Suzanne Hiscott.
Last year Suzanne’s father, Graham Pickering, was diagnosed with dementia and sadly lost his fight in January.
Suzanne said: “It’s a cause which is dear to our hearts really.”
Last Thursday, 50 cupcakes were produced, and by around 11am, nearly all sold out, not surprisingly when the flavours were lemon; gin and tonic; rhubarb and custard; orange and amaretto; and black forest gateau!
Suzanne was delighted with how the event went, adding: “Everybody’s always really supportive of this cause, it’s brilliant.”
The Little Bakehouse is renowned for its sourdough, and recently has sold loaves to help boost local lady, Sallyann Copsey’s fundraising, also for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Recently, Sallyann and a friend tackled Snowdon and raised over £2,500, more than double her initial target.
