DELABOLE wind farm was officially declared open by Secretary of State Chris Huhne, on Tuesday, February 22.

He joined Good Energy and local residents to celebrate the replacement of ten turbines with four more powerful ones and answered any questions or queries that were raised.

Along with this, Chris announced the winners of Delabole Primary School's 'name the turbine' competition, with the chosen names going to be put on the turbines. The celebrations continued with a spectacular illumination of the turbines in a dazzling array of colours, a sourced hog roast and refreshments.

A spokesperson for Good Energy said: "The day went brilliantly and we had lots of people turn up.

"The Delabole launch was a great opportunity to ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change for his views on renewables and other issues close to our hearts."
