KEY Stage 2 pupils at Lifton Primary School have been getting creative, with a special visit from the crafty Catherine White.
On Friday, February 2, Catherine White, who runs creative workshops with woodland crafts, paid a visit to the school to spend the afternoon with Key Stage 2 children and assist them with their creative masterpieces.
The children were able to make their own house settings using natural, woodland materials, that are due to inspire them with their creative writing in lessons.
Headteacher, Melanie Cripps, said: “Because of the amazing quality of resources Catherine brought in, the children were mesmirised. One girl said, ‘I love this, I could do this all day’ — she wasn’t speaking to anyone; she was just talking out loud, because she was so immersed in her work.
“Catherine brought in these beautiful little pods that could be made into miniature cauldrons; flowers that were dried out to create the roofs of the houses; little leaves and stems to make canoes — the materials were at such a high quality, the children were really inspired.”
The houses will be used to inspire the children’s creative writing, and eventually they will be able to take their miniature works home to show their families.
