COUNTY planners are too quick off the mark for their opposite numbers in Abergavenny, town councillors have complained.
They reckon their Usk-based counterparts are guilty of 'undue haste' in processing planning some applications.
Town clerk Peter Johns told councillors at their monthly meeting that Abergavenny was not being given enough a time to issue its verdict on the merit of some applications because of the time squeeze.
He revealed that normally the town council would get notification of applications six weeks before the matter went before Monmouth.
But lately the time limit had been narrowed to four weeks which sometimes did not give the time required to pass on council views to MCC's planning committee.
Councillor John Prosser said, "If we are not getting enough notice of applications we need to talk to MCC's planning department and ask them if they can re-schedule their applications.
"We need more notice. Let's find a solution."
The town clerk accepted that prompt dealings over applications was a good practice - but for Abergavenny it was 'indecently quick'in some cases.
