LOCAL Cornish folk/harmony group, The Countrymen, performed on their home turf at The Countryman Inn at Langdon Cross for the first time in quite a while on Friday, August 18.
The reason behind the evening was to hand over the £1,500 raised so far for The Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund and Bob Johns himself was there for the handover.
Band member, Steve Gilbert, said: “We were overwhelmed by the turnout and the audience response on the evening and to know how much our donation means to Bob personally was truly heartwarming.”
The Countrymen are now becoming well-known across the county and other recent performances included the cider festival at The Clovelly Inn, Bratton Clovelly, and the The Newlyn Fish Festival on Bank Holiday Monday.
The band were looking forward to both performances but possibly not the A30 on a Bank Holiday!
