HAVING been closed for an extended period due to COVID, the Holsworthy Luncheon Club was delighted to reopen its doors this month and bring people together over a good meal again.

On December 13 the club held a special Christmas dinner, and thanks were expressed to Eileen Steele and her merry band of helpers, Ron Parsons, Julie Parsons, Jackie Ford, Alison Westcott, Ann Pierce Ross, Stella Burnard, Angela Parrish and Jenny Brown, who all helped to make this event possible.

A large number of guests came together, and enjoyed the wonderfully prepared meal, which was also supported by a generous gift from Waitrose Holsworthy.

Marilyn Chidley, community champion for Waitrose & Partners Holsworthy wanted to help them re-establish, and so donated a £300 gift card to them to purchase the food for their lunch plus the Christmas puddings and cream.”

A luncheon club spokesperson added: “The luncheon club would like to thank Waitrose for the generous donations, also Nancy and her team at B&N Foods at Chapmans Well for their help and lovely fresh local produce.”

The next dinner will be on January 10.
