ORGANISERS of Launceston Community Market were delighted to hand over a cheque for £300 to St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, the local charity that offers end of life care and support to local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Donations from the market, held every Friday morning in the town’s Central Methodist Hall, are donated to deserving causes.

Over the years they have raised £20,000 for various local charities selling crafts, toys, handmade clothes, homemade preserves, etcetera and this month the team chose the hospice as their beneficiary.

Paul Jellyman, who is the treasurer of the market, said: “We are all privileged and proud to be able to help St Luke’s who provide such a fantastic and valuable service.”

Partnerships manager Nina Wearne and partnerships lead Sarah Wallis accepted the cheque on behalf of St Luke’s.

Nina said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Launceston Community Market for their kindness and generosity.

“The donations of local groups like theirs are so important to us, enabling us to offer our compassionate care when people are going through the toughest of times.”

Market organisers are looking for recommendations for their next charity or good cause, so pop in on a Friday between 9.30am until 1pm to make a suggestion.
