THREE local businesses, including two in Camelford, have been awarded cheques from Co-op’s Local Community Fund.
The money donated to local causes comes from the Local Community Fund, which is earned by members using their Co-op card.
All customers who have a membership card earn 5% of their spend on own brand products back for themselves and an additional 1% for local good causes.
Each store in the country chooses three causes that its members earn money for when they buy own brand products.
The voting started in September 2016 and on Saturday, November 25, a total of £20-million was donated nationwide, with the Camelford store donating £2,437 to 1st Camelford Brownies, £2,572 to the Old Bank in Camelford and £2,397 to the Bodmin and District Horizon Club.
The Horizon Club is run by donations by over 70 members who are either disabled or suffering from mental health issues. The money will be put towards taking the members to a pantomime.
