Jeanette Johnson, Tim Dixon, Jason Shipton, David Marshall and Kevin and Vin Marshall took part in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 cycle ride recently, raising funds for Lifton Community Centre.
Over 24,000 cyclists started from the Olympic Park in four-minute waves with the earliest setting off at 5.45am
The scenic route passed through Richmond Park, Weybridge, Newlands Corner, out to Leith Hill, on to Dorking, up the famous Box Hill, through Kingston upon Thames to Wimbledon and finishing on The Mall.
It was ideal weather conditions for cycling and despite some of the riders being held up due to accidents on the course, everyone enjoyed the day.
For Jeanette, Jason, David, Tim and Vin, it was their first experience of the event. Jeanette said: “It was a brilliant event and so well organised.”
Vin said she ‘loved it’ and has already entered the ballot for next year.
Altogether they have raised over £2,145 which will go towards landscaping the grounds of the Community Centre.
If you wish to support any of the riders you can still do so, either directly or via www.virginmoneygiving.com followed by the individual’s name.
