A CO-OP branch based in Camelford has been doing its bit to support the local community.
Recently the branch presented several organisations with cheques, supporting the important work they do within the area.
Among those who received contributions were the North Cornwall Riding School – a group offering horse riding lessons to those with disabilities, the Old Bank and Community Larder – a group working within the local community to provide support to those in need, and Sir James Smith’s School D of E group – a coeducational secondary school based within the town.
The donations come as part of the company’s Local Community Fund, an initiative which sees money from store-sales go towards local groups. These groups should: bring people together to access food, help improve people’s mental well-being, create opportunities for young people to be heard and make a difference, or enable people to save and restore nature or tackle climate change.
Following their application, the most worthy groups are then chosen by the store,
Speaking to the Post, store manager of the Camelford branch, Nick Park said: “It’s brilliant to be able to support the community, I know that a cheque of that size will help the local groups tremendously.”
