A CIVIC reception was held recently, by Callington Town Council, for visiting French students.
The event was part of the annual exchange with Callington Community College. By particular request of the town’s Portreve, Mark Smith, the students were offered a taste of traditional Cornish heritage with pasties from Helluva pasties.
Speaking on behalf of Helluva pasties, Chrissie Dawe said they were ‘delighted’ to have been chosen to represent the town and its heritage. She added: “We are often told that our pasties are good but to have them chosen for the civic reception was fantastic!”
The French visitors continued their culinary delights with a traditional Cornish cream tea, followed by a disco and dance after.
Mr Smith said: “Hosting events like this is beneficial for maintaining and enhancing relations between our twinned towns. I am very pleased that the evening was a success and that our young French guests were able to sample a genuine taste of Cornwall. I hope we can look forward to hosting further receptions in the future.”
