BUDE travelled to Totnes for the first league match of 2009.
With four regular players out, Bude faced a challenge but it was a great opportunity for their up and coming stars to shine.
The long Christmas break took its toll as Bude struggled to keep up with play in
the first five minutes and Totnes dominated.
Once the visitors had settled then the game began and Leanne Stanbury, Leona Marsh and Sarah Badham all had chances on goal.
Despite some athletic defending from Corrine Salt
it was Totnes who opened the scoring midway through the first half and with spirits high they pushed for another. Bude 'keeper Lisa Cornish was alert and made some critical crunching tackles to deny them.
Bude found their passion after the break and within minutes neat passing from Leona Marsh, Anita Symons and Lizzy Jenkins found Leanne Stanbury in front of goal to level the score.
A very physical battle ensued with both sides going for a win. Zoe West did well up front, holding the ball up and making some great turns to set up attacks. Sarah Badham was unlucky not to get the winner for Bude as she was set free on numerous occasions but the Totnes 'keeper held firm.
A strong Bude defence ensured that Totnes did not get a winner either, Gemma Smith making an amazing tackle in the box to deny the home side.
