CHILDREN’S Hospice South West (CHSW) has announced that its new charity shop in Bude is now open.
The ribbon was cut at the official opening on Friday, February 3 by the charity’s co-founder and CEO, Eddie Farwell, and shop manager, Annie Davey, along with Susie and Julie, the shop managers’ assistants.
Members of Wyvern Friends Group also joined as guests for the opening ceremony. The shop is now open for trading and will be open seven days a week.
Chris Judd, CHSW’s head of retail, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing a CHSW shop to the community of Bude. Our new Bude shop follows our new-look shop design, and offers a wide selection of goods, including good quality clothing, accessories, books and children’s toys. By shopping with us, you are helping to support the short and precious lives of children and families living in the local community.”
As well as the new shopping opportunity that the shop will bring to the town, there will also be increased opportunities for volunteering for this special charity and the shop will also welcome donations of pre-loved and unwanted clothes, bric-a-brac and other accessories and items to sell in store.
CHSW provides respite care and support for children with life limiting or life threatening illnesses, as well as their families. It costs over £9-million to fund its three hospices, based in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, and the charity relies almost entirely on voluntary funding to safeguard its services.
The retail side of the charity is growing year on year, now with 27 shops across the region helping sustain the work of the charity in supporting local families.
The new shop in Bude is situated on Princes Street. To get involved as a volunteer, feel free to pop in and visit the shop manager, or call Stephanie Robey on 01271 313319, or email [email protected] for details.
