REPRESENTATIVES from various organisations in Marhamchurch collected cheques from the Marhamchurch Revel committee at The Bray Centre on November 26.
Totalling £3,570, 12 groups collected varying amounts, depending on the need and the number of people who helped, plus the Devon Air Ambulance.
The organisations/groups awarded funds were: St Marwenne Church, Marhamchurch Methodist Church, Marhamchurch Village Hall Committee, Marhamchurch Play-School, Marhamchurch Playpark, Marhamchurch Primary School PTA, Marhamchurch Village Christmas Tree, Marhamchurch Village Shop, Marhamchurch Revel Field Trust, Devon Air Ambulance, Marhamchurch Bellringers, Marhamchurch Snooker Club and Marhamchurch WI.
Vice-chair Rob Corney said: “All funds raised came through the revel celebrations which included the dog show, a draw on the day and special guest Jonathan Marshall and his black horse. I’ve never seen it so busy.”
Rob admits though that people are needed to step forward for the revel to keep going, and said: “We need more volunteers. The community is ageing. Ray Hockin, who passed away this year, did a lot, so we need people to step up. The first meeting of the year is in January and it’d be a great time for anyone interested, to get involved.”
That meeting takes place on Tuesday, January 14 at 7.30pm in the village hall.
