THE chairman of Okehampton Young Farmers Club (YFC) presented a cheque to two representatives of the Lighthouse Club Construction Industry Charity at Meldon Village Hall on Tuesday, July 11.
Chairman of the Okehampton YFC, Giles Heard, presented a cheque for £2,500 to the South West Welfare Officer Susanne Furse and South West committee member of the Lighthouse Club Luke Furse.
Earlier this year the Okehamption Young Farmers donated £1,000 as a result of various fundraising activities, so their support of the Lighthouse Club amounts to a fantastic £3,500 this year.
The money raised is a direct result of the Okehampton Young Farmers teamwork and dedication to support those. In need in addition to competing in a ‘dung run’ they also donated all proceeds from their annual party to the Lighthouse Club charity.
Lighthouse Club CEO, Bill Hill, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the Okehampton Young Farmers for their support and amazing fundraising this year. Anyone that’s prepared to bag up dung and deliver it to raise money gets a big cheer from us!”
