A NIGHT of music that saw people of all ages take centre stage raised £280 for Great Oaks Hospice.

Performers aged from eight to 80 took to Coleford Baptist Church where local music director and conductor Sam Davis organised a one-off musical extravaganza.

The Forest of Dean Area Wind Band (FODAWB) saw its new percussionist, eight-year-old Charlie Cooke debut on the drums with the thrilling tempo of the Spiderman theme tune.

The FODAWB Starter Group, directed by Gloucestershire Music's Kerry Ford, played their first-ever public performance – which featured young children that have only recently started playing instruments.

The ladies of the Coalway Singers provided the evening with much glamour and poise, showcasing their beautiful harmonies.

The entertainment continued with the Coleford Community Choir who wowed the audience with the songs Field of Dreams and Flying without Wings which highlighted why they are two-time winners of Herefordshire's Senior Choir of the Year.

Bringing the evening to a close was the FODAWB with music from The Hunger Games and a rousing piece from Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Man's Chest.
