On Sunday, May 17, in a fabulous marquee at Castlemead, Manorbier, courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Swancott (bride and groom of the previous day), a charity brunch is being held, with all funds going to the Peony Suite, Breast Cancer Unit, Llanelli.

So many local people, neighbours and friends have received the most marvellous care and aftercare that this is hopefully a way of saying thank you.

Bucks Fizz on arrival, soft jazz in the background, a delicious buffet brunch, raffle and tombola, all for £12.50 per ticket. There are still a few tickets available, so please call (01834) 871 358 to purchase.

Llanelli Breast Cancer Support Group was formed in 1987. It offers friendship and support to those who have suffered from breast cancer. Chairwoman Jean Slade was asked to join consultant Mr. Simon Holt and two other ladies to form a committee to campaign for a breast care centre, and with the support of local donations, they raised approximately £1m. Both were awarded MBEs for their sterling work and the Peony Unit was built.

It is state-of-the-art; the individual bedrooms are modelled on West End Hotel rooms. The group still has monthly meetings every third Monday at Glenalla Community Hall, Glenalla Road, Llanelli, tel. 01554 810967, contact Jean Slade.
