THE staff of the Camelford branch of Penbode Vets welcomed the public to the official opening of the new surgery on Saturday afternoon, June 2.

The new Camelford branch was officially opened by Jacquie Lorraine when she unveiled a slate plaque dedicated to her late husband Iain, who was practice manager of Penbode Vets for 20 years from 1997 and who had played a key role in the development of the Inns Park site.

Visitors were treated to a special ‘behind the scenes’ tour, where they could peer down a microscope at a flea and some urinary crystals, view the new lambing bay, theatre and x-ray room and discuss dental treatment, scanning and other areas of veterinary care, like behaviour therapy and grooming, offered by the team’s vets and nurses.

The dedicated team of receptionists were also on hand to discuss health care packages with visitors.

Penbode director Mark Shepherd said: “The new facilities we offer here in the new Camelford surgery show our commitment to the local animal owning community and to being here for the long term!”

Visitors enjoyed meeting the exotic animals brought along for the afternoon by ‘Mark’s Ark’, whilst the hard working nursing team had to take time out from speaking to visitors to tend to an injured fox which was brought in.
