IN order to keep things fresh the Launceston Carnival committee has had a reshuffle.
During their recent meeting, current members took on new roles but all agree, some fresh blood is needed.
Chairman Dave Gordon said: “Well folks we have our new committee for 2023 — well it’s actually the old committee with a few reshuffles!”
The committee for 2023 is as follows: Chairman, Dave Gordon; Vice chairman, Nigel Cowling; Treasurer, Julie Cowling; Secretary, Claire Greenaway; Health and safety, Luke Cowling.
General committee: Claire Bader, Donna Ronan, Sharon Horsington.
Mr Gordon continued: “We would like to invite and indeed we would welcome new members to the committee at any point in this year.
“As you can imagine, with any large community event there are always lots of ways you can help, and we would look to use your skills/passion for the good of the carnival.
“We are a friendly, hard working team that just loves putting on the carnival for our community — so please, if you think you would like to join us please drop us a note here.”
There are several costs involved with putting on this traditional town event and as such the committee are seeking new sponsors who can offer support.
Mr Gordon said: “We are also looking for sponsors this year for various elements of the carnival - so if you are a community minded business and would like to sponsor an element of the carnival (for instance a marching band, carnival class, media costs or anything else that might better link to your business, then please get in touch. We would welcome your support in return for advertising on our website/Facebook/programme or on the night. Please let us know if you can help.”
He added: “And so...we start planning for Carnival 2023!”
