Did you know the Launceston branch of Cat’s Protection finds homes for more than 100 cats/kittens each year?
Many require veterinary treatment which is paid for by our branch so that all cats they re-home are healthy or have a medical plan. The cats/kittens need love, care and attention before finding their ‘furever’ home. Dedicated volunteers clean the pens and also socialise the cats.
A spokesperson said: “If you’d like to get involved with this, we are always looking for new recruits!
“We help numerous feral cats with our ’Trap, Neuter and Return’ (TNR) programme and again we’re looking for volunteers. Kittens (male and female) can start to breed as young as four to six months old and have more than one litter per year resulting in lots of sadly unwanted cats. The new subsidised neutering scheme is available for those receiving means-tested benefits (Income Support etc.) or, on a low income (below £25,000 annually, per household). Participating vets will neuter and microchip cats for just £10.”
For further information call Kathy 07831 514811 (feral/stray) or Judith 07867 189788 (domestic). Not only does a microchip mean a cat can be returned if lost but from June 2024 it will be a legal requirement.
The spokesperson added: “Our amazing fundraising team work hard holding events selling kindly donated items. Grateful thanks must go to supporters and volunteers, we couldn’t do it without you!”
