CARDINHAM Woods will be closed on Sunday due to the weather forecast.

A yellow weather warning is in place warning of over 60 mile per hour winds.

It comes on the back of damage caused from the recent devastating Storm Darragh, leading to those in charge of the management of the popular woods to close in order to protect people’s safety.

A spokesperson for Forestry England said: “Site closure: Sunday, December 22. Sadly we are being hit hard once again this weekend. With the yellow weather warning and gusts of over 60 miles per hour forecast, we have no choice but to close the woods this Sunday.

“Please do not try to visit the forest while it's closed. At these speeds there is a significant danger to life due to the risk of falling limbs and trees.

“The winds forecast are NW which is the same as Storm Darragh - fingers crossed this time there's less damage. We'll post updates when we have them. Thank you”
