PLANS for a new double-deck car park at Haslemere railway station took a step forward this week after South West Trains agreed a £50m package of improvements with the Department for Transport.

Jeremy Hunt, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for South West Surrey, said he has secured a commitment from the rail operator to list both Farnham and Haslemere stations in its investment plan, with the improvements to be implemented by early 2017.
