THE shock suspension of South West Surrey Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate Patrick Haveron has delivered a crushing blow to the party.

Mr Haveron, a high-profile Waverley borough councillor and Godalming town councillor, was suspended by the Lib Dems on Sunday, following an allegation which is now being investigated by Surrey Police that he had falsified his nomination papers for next week's council elections.
