THE shock suspension of the South West Surrey Liberal Democrat election candidate for Parliament has delivered a crushing blow to the party.

Patrick Haveron, a high-profile former Waverley borough councillor and Godalming town councillor, was suspended by the Lib Dems on Sunday following an allegation now being investigated by Surrey Police that he had falsified his nomination papers for next week's council elections.
