A CAMELFORD based paramedic has retired after 40 years of helping people in the community.

Graham Ferguson first started working at St John Ambulance Hall, Camelford, in 1976, but his drive to help people stemmed from his early years working as an apprentice engineer at the Ministry of Aviation.

He realised one day while working in Croydon, when he heard a 'ding-a-ling-a-ling' from an ambulance bell and he watched the ambulance go down the road and drive through a flower bed.
