The last few weeks of the year are always the busiest and exciting for the Launceston Male Voice Choir and 2023 was no exception.
The recent joint concert with the GraceNotes ladies’ acapella choir was a great success and more than £700 was raised for the Motor Neurone Disease Research charity.
This was followed by a return concert at the Treguddick Distillery with a programme of old favourites and Christmas items.
For the first time since the COVID outbreak choir members sang carols in the Cedar Grange Care Home, Kernow House and in the wards at Launceston Hospital.
The festive round also included a splendid concert in St Juliot Hall in Otterham in support of the charity Riding for the Disabled, and culminated by taking part in the seasonal Christmas celebration with the Memory Café.
The forthcoming months will be no less busy with nine engagements already booked for 2024, including hosting a four choir concert in Launceston on Saturday,May 4, as part of the International Male Voice Festival.
In addition the choir will be ‘in concert’ at Tregadillett, Halwill, North Tamerton, Lifton and Poundstock.
In April there will be a joint concert with Launceston Town Band in the Town Hall, in support of the Mayor’s chosen charity.
A Launceston Male Voice Choir spokesperson added: “It has been very encouraging that over the past few months more new members than ever have been joining the Wenesday night practices in Launceston Methodist Church Hall.”
The cheque presentation to MND research took place after a recent choir practice night, with almost 50 choir members and their ladies present.
