BRADWORTHY Carnival boasted record entries as well as bumper crowds on a dry and sunny Bank Holiday evening.
The evening began in the Square on Saturday, August 24, with children’s entertainment from BFA Party Hire. The Square was bursting with a children’s funfair and inflatable rides, face painting and many food and refreshment vendors.
Floats and walking entries filled the playing fields along with many visiting royalty. Bideford Youth Pipe Band led the procession which also included a display from Torridge Elite Majorettes. Johnny Furse and Mark Bromell kept the crowds entertained throughout with their amusing commentary.
There was a particularly high standard of entries in this year’s procession. The winner of best in carnival was a ‘Horrible Histories’ float from Hartland. Following the procession the fabulous Loose Cannons played on the stage set up in the Square. Everyone danced the night away until 11pm when celebrations were brought to a close by a marvellous fire work display.
A spokesperson for the carnival committee said: “Bradworthy Carnival committee would like to thank everyone who supported this year’s event as well as everyone who helped throughout the weekend to make it happen.”
