HAVE you ever wanted to get married by the sea? Soon you could go one step further by saying ‘I do’ in the sea.
Popular venue, Bude Sea Pool has announced its latest fundraising initiative to become the only licensed wedding venue in the UK where couples can get married in the sea.
To kick off this unique campaign, a ‘Mass Commitment Ceremony’ has been planned for September 1, inviting people to declare their love and commitment to anyone or anything they cherish.
Whether it’s a partner, a pet, a best friend or a group, participants are encouraged to make their commitment as part of this fun and festive event. The ceremony will be led by local celebrant Jac Wills and is purely for enjoyment, with no legal binding. Attendees can choose to take part on, in, or around the iconic sea pool, and for those looking for an extra splash, there’s even the option to float on Rob McPaddle’s MegaSUP!
Elaine Viner, events lead at Bude Sea Pool, shared her enthusiasm for the project.
She said: “We’ve received numerous inquiries from people interested in hiring the pool as a wedding venue. We’ve also been the backdrop for many proposals, so it would be wonderful for those couples to tie the knot at the same special place.
“There’s no other location in the UK that offers the chance to get married in seawater, so this would be a truly unique opportunity.”
The ‘Mass Commitment Ceremony’ is set to begin at 13.30pm on September 1, with registration opening from 12.30pm.
To join in, interest can be registered by emailing [email protected] or simply turn up at the pool on the day.
A sea pool spokesperson added: “This event is not only a celebration of love but also a way to generate interest in booking Bude Sea Pool as a wedding venue for couples planning their special day. Don’t miss this chance to be part of something truly unique and help make history as the UK’s first seawater wedding venue!”
