A job fair recently held in Bude secured attendees almost 100 job interviews and offers.

Last week, Bude Job Centre hosted a job fair for those searching for potential employment opportunities. The event saw employers such as Wildanet, Greenfield Engineering, NHS, NCS and Bude and Stratton Town Council in attendance.

More than 230 jobseekers attended the event, meeting with 24 employers. Simon Hilton, employer Advisor for Bude and the organiser of the event said: “Today has been fantastic. Turnout is way above what I thought we would achieve. The employers have been so positive about the event. It really has been a Community event, and this is what Bude is about.”

With doors opening from 9.30am, a steady flow of people attended the day’s event. With many places focussing on over 50’s, the final hour of the day was reserved exclusively as an over 50’s hour, which proved to be very popular.

Sue Kessell, Bude Job Centre Manager said: “It was another fantastic Jobs fair thanks to the whole team at Bude, but especially Simon who has built up a great relationship with local employers. Job seeker attendance was 50% up compared to last year. I love greeting people as they arrive at the event, and especially catching up with them as they leave to hear their news of potential job opportunities and their hopes for the future. The Venue is a perfect location, and we are very grateful to Inclusion Cornwall for funding it for our Jobs fairs.”

Thanks to the event almost 100 further job interviews and potential job offers were organised. The centre is now looking to host another event in May however, those who missed the event and are looking to get involved, can email Simon Hilton via [email protected]
