Youth football teams in Bude are asking the public for support after their goals have become unusable.

Eleven football teams in Bude have reached out to the public after their facilities were damaged.

Bude Town FC Youth is made up of seven mixed teams ranging from under 9s to under 16s, and four girls teams ranging from under 10s to under 16s. The group also run a variety of other programmes for other age groups, however, recently the club’s goals fell into disrepair, meaning new ones are needed.

Nick Swan, manager of the under 12 girls team, said: “The current goals are around seven years old. They have rusted and snapped so are unusable at the moment for the under 9s. We have some plastic temporary ones, but they aren’t a long term solution as they aren’t very durable.”

With new goals costing around £900 to replace, the team have had to turn to the local community for support, setting up a fundraiser. In just a few days, more than £500 has been raised but a further £400 is needed.

Nick continued: “While grants and funding pots are available to help sporting organisations, these all take time to apply for and get approved. We have setup a fundraising and grant application team to cover future needs, but in the short term we are looking for businesses and individuals to donate to help us quickly replace these goals.”
