RESIDENTS and visitors came together for a day of fun this weekend, as a coastal town was transformed into a vibrant spectacle as part of Bude Carnival 2024.
Each year, people flock to the seaside, not only to enjoy the a dip in the sea, but to also experience a historic annual carnival in Bude.
Founded in 1920, the event has been running for more than 100 years. At its beginnings, events included a ‘Grand Torch-Light Procession’, a ‘Grand Masked Confetti Fete’, hourly concerts by four Jolly Sailor Men and an Exhibition of War Trophies.
While things might have changed, 2024’s event proved more popular than ever.
Complete with live music, entertainment, food and drink, and local stalls, there was plenty to get stuck into.
However, the highlight of this event for many is the iconic carnival procession, which sees residents explore their creative side, hoping to create the best float to parade through the town.
Following the day’s activities, organisers thanked residents for their support.
A spokesperson said: “What an incredible day we had yesterday at the Bude Carnival! We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the event so brilliant, and to everyone who attended.
“Your support and enthusiasm truly made the day unforgettable! We cannot thank you all enough for contributing to such a super successful carnival.”
